ten theories about the little girl

This is all PURE SPECULATION on my part. I know there have been some leaked filming reports that have purportedly given clues about, for instance, River Song's identity, but I've successfully avoided them so far, so if any of my guesses turn out to be right, it'll be a coincidence! However, there are of course spoilers for 6x1 and 6x2, so be warned.

1) The little girl is River. River is secretly a Time Lady, and she has been pretending not to know who the little girl was in 6x1 and 6x2 for some possibly nefarious River Reasons. She is not Amy's child, but the Silence want Amy to think she is. Not sure how Amy's case of Schroedinger's Womb plays into this theory.

2) The little girl is River. River is secretly a Time Lady, but somehow over the course of her life between being the little girl and growing up into River, she has lost her memories of being that girl, hence her genuine ignorance of what's going on in 6x1 and 6x2. She is not Amy's child, but the Silence want Amy to think she is. Not sure how Amy's case of Schroedinger's Womb plays into this theory, either.

3) The little girl is Amy and Rory's child. Traveling in the TARDIS during Amy's pregnancy has somehow affected the baby and turned her into a Time Lady, or given her some Time Lord abilities like regeneration. This baby will grow up to be River Song, and will pretend that she doesn't remember her childhood, for some possibly nefarious River Reasons.

4) The little girl is Amy and Rory's child. Traveling in the TARDIS during Amy's pregnancy has somehow affected the baby and turned her into a Time Lady, or given her some Time Lord abilities like regeneration. This baby will grow up to be River Song, but will not remember her childhood or who her parents are, for reasons yet to be determined.

5) The little girl is Amy and Rory's child. Traveling in the TARDIS during Amy's pregnancy has somehow affected the baby and turned her into a Time Lady, or given her some Time Lord abilities like regeneration. She won't grow up to be River, though -- she's someone else entirely.

6) The little girl is Amy and the Doctor's child. At some point they have slept together or will sleep together and have a half human, half Time Lord baby. For obvious reasons, this baby does not then grow up to become River Song.

7) The little girl is the Doctor and River's child, half human and half Time Lord. The Silence are trying to make Amy think she's her daughter. Not sure how Amy's case of Shroedinger's Womb plays into this theory.

8) The little girl is someone entirely unrelated to either Amy, River or the Doctor. Not very likely, but you never know.

9) The little girl is YOU. You are actually a fobwatched Time Lord, and although you think you're human, you're actually going to open a watch sometime soon and turn into a Time Lord again. Also, when you were a little kid, you had an adventure in 1969 with a spaceman and some Silents.

10) The little girl is Jenny/Susan/the Master/Romana/the Rani/Rose/Donna/Martha/Jackie/Mickey/that horse from "Girl in the Fireplace."

Personally, I'm putting my bets on #3, for various reasons. But we'll see.

Comments

Lol @ Schroedinger's womb, #9, and the horse from GitF. Nice mix of theories and humor!
Haha, thanks.
I am also rooting for #3, especially as it will fulfill some of the ~mysterious~ ~Moffat~ ~hints~ dropped before the season started.

But I could also go for that horse from "The Girl in the Fireplace." I think Arthur would make an excellent Time Lord. Mickey, not so much.
Mickey might just be the worst Time Lord ever.
I'm putting my bets on #5 (though I like to think Amy isn't really preggers), #7, and kind of leaning to #10. Though to have the little girl actually being the horse would be pretty intriguing.
See, I like to think she isn't really preggers either, seeing as how no filming pics have actually shown her with a pregnant belly, but Moffat's not one to hint towards something that isn't going to happen, either...SO CONFUSED.
I wish I had one of those gifs of David Tennant, shaking his fist with the caption "MOFFAT!!" right about now...
Those are very interesting theories and I have one more to add. What is the child is Omega's and Rivers and the only way to protect her is to make Amy think that the child is hers. Because if Omega ever had any offspring they would be a danger to him.
...I should probably know who Omega is, shouldn't I. XD
Well here is a link that tells you all about Omega and his place in the history of Gallifrey. The link is pretty accurate in it's account.

The only reason why I brought up omega is because the Omega sign has been shown with River throughout the series but especially in the two parter "Time of Angels"

Wouldn't it be more like Schroedinger's Baby, though? After all, we're not questioning the existence of Amy's womb :D (OR ARE WE)

And yes, I'm also very much leaning towards number three as the most likely option. Mostly, because River has so many secrets by this point that it's completely believable this could be one of them. TBH though, Moffat has screwed with my head so much that I'm willing to believe anything while being skeptical of everything. And a part of me doesn't even want to speculate, because this 'verse is so difficult and complicated and it makes me cranky and achy to think about it for too long at a time. (I mean I am a bona fide nerd to the point where I laugh at math puns and convert Harry Potter currency to euro in my head, but time travel as a concept is out of my range) I just want to watch the show and be surprised and delighted. And quite possibly heartbroken.

Ugh, I don't even want to think about how this series is going to end, when so much mind-fuckery has already been established in the first two episodes.

(SPEAKING OF MIND-FUCKERY, WHO THE HELL WAS THAT ONE WOMAN WHO LOOKED THROUGH THE HATCH ON THE DOOR AND WENT "SHE'S JUST DREAMING" I WISH I HAD A GIF OF TENNANT GOING "WUT? WUT?! WUT?!?" WHAT DOES IT MEEEEAAAANNN!?)

This comment has officially derailed. No one is surprised.
[Wouldn't it be more like Schroedinger's Baby, though?]

I was thinking of the original as Schroedinger's Box, but you might be right, actually...

[TBH though, Moffat has screwed with my head so much that I'm willing to believe anything while being skeptical of everything.]

HEAR HEAR. Seriously, he's made me so paranoid I don't even trust my own theories anymore. I just assume that I have NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON.

[Ugh, I don't even want to think about how this series is going to end, when so much mind-fuckery has already been established in the first two episodes.]

I am going to be a weepy mess at the end of this series. No question.

[(SPEAKING OF MIND-FUCKERY, WHO THE HELL WAS THAT ONE WOMAN WHO LOOKED THROUGH THE HATCH ON THE DOOR AND WENT "SHE'S JUST DREAMING" I WISH I HAD A GIF OF TENNANT GOING "WUT? WUT?! WUT?!?" WHAT DOES IT MEEEEAAAANNN!?)]

I HEAR SHE'S GOING TO COME BACK AT SOME POINT, SO WE'RE GOING TO FIND OUT. IN THE MEANWHILE, I AM GOING TO HYPERVENTILATE AND BABBLE INCOHERENTLY.
I had an epiphany in the early morning limbo state between dreamland and consciousness (it's slightly disconcerting to realize you literally are dreaming of WHO), where I felt like the little girl must be River. My dream evidence was connected to the parallelism of the space suit. That she would be wearing one ad a child, when first meeting the doctor and again in her last episode, when she dies (in the library 2 parter). Now I'm not sure my theory holds water though lol.

Frankly I don't think river is cool enough to be related to either Amy or the doctor. But that's just me.

I keep thinking about the spoilers that day this is going to change or clarify the doctors relationship with Amy--and hope against hope that that doesn't mean she's his mother in law or the equivalent.
